First Super League Triathlon commemorated by Jersey Post & Go
The first ever Super League Triathlon event will feature as the next overprint to appear on Jersey Post & Go JE02 stamps. The overprint, which will read: Super League Triathlon 2017 will be printed on the Jersey Crest Post & Go stamps from Monday 18 September to close of business on Monday 16 October 2017.
Super League Triathlon is a new championship series combining the three core triathlon disciplines but with an alternative approach to the Olympic standard. Points are awarded for three individual stages: the Triple Mix, the Equaliser and the Eliminator rounds.
Melanie Gouzinis, Head of Philatelic at Jersey Post explains: ”This exciting new series sees the world’s best triathletes compete against each other in a mix of gruelling short-course tracks and Olympic speed-racing. Global stars including Alistair and Jonny Brownlee will be coming to Jersey to take part in the event which will be broadcast live to millions across the globe on 23rd and 24th September. It’s a huge opportunity for Jersey and we are delighted to commemorate the first ever event on our Post & Go stamps.”
Jersey Post’s most recent Post & Go issue, Fruits and Berries, will continue to vend from the JE02 kiosk but will not carry the commemorative overprint.
Jersey Post’s JE02 series Post & Go kiosk, powered by Royal Mail, is located in Jersey Post’s Broad Street post office in St Helier. A limited number of Collectors’ strips featuring the Super League Triathlon 2017 overprint will be available to order at www.jerseystamps.com or by contacting the Jersey Philatelic Bureau on: 00 44 (0)1534 616320.
